How often do you all feed? I usually feed every nite. Is that to much? I make sure there is no extra food sinking. I heard every other day is fine but i wanted my fish to get big quick.

For my younger fish I feed everyday for my older fish usually every other day. There's nothing wrong with feeding every day some people feed a couple times a day. I use to feed all my fish everyday but that was getting to expensive.

100% depends on the species in question and factors in the tank such as temperature/metabolism/competition for food.

Some fish will literally eat themselves to death, some fish you want them to eat as much as possible, some fish only need to be fed a couple times a week, some fish need a constant source of food...

+1

It really does depend on the fish and it environment. I feed my M. electricus once a day, but feed my community tank 2 times a day.

well said .. I feed my FH every other day ..

Depends on how much they are willing to eat

usually 1x a day but i give a purging day here or there to my bigger fish

I am guilty as heck of drastic overfeeding! I force myself into requiring frequent large water changes (minimum of 50% weekly). I have also come to depend extremely heavily on bottom clean up crews in my tanks and replace them as they are eaten/ killed almost as if they were nothing more than dual purpose feeders.

Does anyone else use catfish/ pleco/ cory as cleaners as well as feeders. They seem incredibly easy to gutload vegetation and than nutrify aggressive predator fish upon consumption!

I would not intentionally use any Catfish species as feeders. I know sometimes things can happen in tanks with hungry fish. They have very hard spines that they splay when threatened or attacked. It only takes one small cat to lodge itself in the throat of a big fish to kill it. That being said, I'm sure there are some Large fish that naturally feed on cats and are designed to cope with swallowing such meals. Unless you have one of these types of fish, I would discontinue using cat species as feeders.
