Is there any way i can get my rbp to eat stick food? All he will eat is live fish, and he'll only eat at night with the lights off and an empty room

my Ps are not eating pellets, they just eat raw meat, live food and dry shrimp
i rarely feed them live food.

but yes, you can make them eat stick food as well if you keep them hungry for few days and give them stick foods. but i think meat/fish will be better for them.

How many ps do you have in the tank? I have my Cariba eating hikari carnivore sticks. . You can try not feeding for a few days and then offer. Stay away from goldfish. They are a terrible food source for piranha. Goldfish Contain an enzyme called thiaminase which brakes down B vitamins and thiamine in piranhas

Just one, and he eats xl minnows from the bait shop, i know its not the best food for him but he won't eat anything else, not even goldfish.

So you have a solo rbp? What size?

1st off make certain water parameters are ideal I.e 0ammonia/nitrite and >40ppm nitrate.

Secondly if the rbp is atleast 3" you can go w/o feeding him for a few days as said above. If he doesn't take wait another few days and he will come around. The tricky part is if he is solo sometimes they can be harder to pellet train because in a shoal all it takes is one rbp to strike and they all do. Here's an old video of my shoal when they were young eating floating pellets.

but i think meat/fish will be better for them.

"I think" is the key word here, a good pellet has every nutrient in it to sustain a very healthy fish, variety is important and that's why pellets play a good role in a long term healthy life. They have vitamins, minerals, garlic and many other benefiting foods in them.

I personally use NLS jumbo fish formula for my shoal a couple times a week and a talapia fillet on Sunday, keeps them hungry, healthy and active.
