took my girlfriend to the lps today to pick up an archer fish for her. every time im there I always have to look at the eels. I was thinking since I just got a 210 g and Ill be moving all my larger fish into it and moving the smaller ones to the 125g. meaning my smaller tanks will be empty. I was planning on using my 29g as a growout tank but I also have a divider laying around. ANYWAYs I was thinking about trying something new and looking at turning the 29 in to a saltwater tank. (29g with a 50gfilter and 40g airpump)

I know theres no way I can get anything like a green moray but is there any smaler eels I can look at that would be ok in it

I also know it wouldnt be for life but If anyone can give me some Ideas of what I could get and how long they would be ok in it would be awsome. Thanks.

this also isnt writen in stone, if its just a waist of time then Ill wait to get another tank. and if I can its not going to be done tomorrow and have time on my hands befor I make any moves.

anyone?

my lps gets them in at 5 to 6 inches. how long would I have intill he would try find his way out. like I said in the post he wouldnt be in there forever. Ive also seen dwarf gold moray eels, they seem to be on the small side as well, what you think?

You need to escape proof the tank. And i mean every inch. Snowflakes are the best starters and can be in a 29 for a while but there are some dwarf species out the that can be in a 29 for life. But they are very hard to find. My husband should chime in here soon with some smaller species ideas. :) important thing with eels is they need to feel safe so be sure to have plenty of rock or caves

What about garden eels? I also hear you man! :) Even though I put more time into my freshwater I just LOVE Saltwater to bits. It's always good for a change

I've heard that people having trouble with them but I like them. They remind me of Jawfish...

Plenty of alternatives to snowflakes...like chainlinks. But for small species I'd go with Gymnothorax richardsoni or golden dwarf. Either way they are all interesting predators...no freshwater eels can match in terms of behavior and color
