Evening guys, thought I'd take a couple of snaps of my tank in the evening; and just discovered an ich outbreak on my silver dollars and Oscar!

Nitrates ~10ppm, the only reason I can think of is that I had a huge party on Saturday, and my fish seemed freaked out the entire time, so I'm guessing it's stress. Annoyed, but temp has been raised to 30°, salt added, so it should fix.

Pics below anyway!

Well apart from the ich the tank looks nice! =P

That sucks mate, hope your able to cure it nice and quickley. Btw your tank looks lovely, obviously well looked after.

Me too, in hindsight I probs should have turned the lights off in the tank for the party; though it was loud as hell too, so who knows

Nice looking tank, be your fish are hardy, and should recover from it easily, just remember to keep treating for at least a week after the last signs of them so that they do die off properly, and don't just bounce back.

my oscar recently suffered an awful case of ich, I have never seen a fish in such bad shape for so many days... BUT, he recovered with a new rambunctious attitude and is incredibly active now. The weirdest thing is that my silver dollars never showed a single sign of illness... still haven't figured that one out.

Good luck, I am sure they will pull through! Let us know when they do...

Hope your fishes recover faster and are back to their best health.
Have a query though , could the lights on be the sole reason for triggering this or could it be some other factors that might have contributed to the Ich , asking so that you find the real reason behind the outbreak and also to prevent that in the future.

Interesting point! I've started lowering the lights, so we'll see if that makes a difference
