Fei feing getting an appetite for slime coat

now i know they do it with rays but i have rarely heard of one going after other fish. My 5 in fei feing wont leave my 6in redtail cuda alone. he constantly is chasing him trying to suck the slime off him. the cuda is looking OK but not his best, still eating though. his slime coat looks real fuzzy from all the pestering. What would trigger the flagtail to all of the sudden take an interest in slime? something lacking from diet? im feeding alge pellets, bloodworms,pellets, and flakes. both the fish are awesome and i dont want to get rid of either one. any body else have this problem? suggestions? thanks in advance.

and yes i would like to get another tank but no, i cannot

that is not a good sign a all messiner. Separate the fish immediately, either by dividing them off or getting a totally new container for the fei feng. They have been known to kill fish as a result of their voracious slime sucking.

If you are feeding the fish well and it is still attacking its tankmates, i would attribute that to
the individual personality of the fish. Its just aggressive.

Fei fengs are notorious for turning into slime suckers without notice. I had a pair turn on a $150 black arowana and kill it in one day.

welp i came home from work to see my cuda dead and floating
flagtail is tredding on thin ice now, one more stunt like that and he is gone. if he lays a fin on my bichirs i will take him out and stomp his ***. the cuda was awesome, ill probably have to go to a farm to get another that size. May he R.I.P.

well thank you for making me feel worse. i never even got to see you guys posts before it happend. im pissed but that also frees up more room in the tank. i can get another, i can go to a wholesailer. cant believe it happend so fast. so you guys think i should ditch the flagtail? i am hoping it was a one time thing, but....

no one time thing my friend, i believe he will suck slime to his hearts content if you dont stop him

if you tried to trade me a flagtail for a cuda like yours, id just laugh (meaning the cuda was bomb shizzo)
