Common pleco is kinda boring....

Other rare Plecos are expensive...

Fei Feng is alright. Does it work just like the Common Pleco? If so, does it eat other foods?

no, fei fengs behave more like tinfoil barbs, although they do eat algae. They love slime coat as well

slime coat? stuff that builds on fish? and that is not good for them? Common plecos dont do that?

you have never kept a pleco with a bichir then. Both those guys are nasty slime coat eaters

Both need an alternate diet to algae. For most people, more water changes and an algae scrubber should replace the pleco. And yes, both species are prone to attacking fish for slime coats.

Ive had and have bichers with a pleco. Is slime coat good to eat? is it necessary? Harmful?

No, flagtails are not good replacements for plecos, they take up a different niche in the water and are often a real pain. When they feed on other fishes slime coats they stress that fish and can even cause secondary infections, they are nice fish but not for a general tank. If you are looking for a nice bottom feeder look into the less common plecos or panaques. Royal tigers or gold nugget plecos are nice as are lined panaques.
