Hello people, i was thinking about getting a flagtail prochilodus fei feng Iv'e heard that they eat slime off fish would it be alright with my birchirs?

I'm going to try it pretty soon, hope it works out

As long as you keep your flagtails well fed with other food sources they arent gonna eat slime coats. Mine manage all the brown algea and are also fed FD krill daily.

pretty much the luck of the draw. i tried it once and it didnt work out. i fed it plenty and still liked to munch on the bichirs slime coat. if i every get another chance i may try again
-- good luck :)

I've kept mine for over a year with lots of bichirs and it seems fine. mine is the colombian varient so maybe that makes a difference. it's now about 9" or more and has got worse at cleaning algae now it's big! it mainly eats prawns and i reckon as long as you keep it well fed it'll be fine. i guess as usual it's all down to personality.

I've had problems with bichirs attacking and eating them but no problems the other way arround

What do you guys pay for them? At my LFS they're at $85 AUS

ive seen them as high as about 200 USD for a 8-10" specimen here in japan, i only paid about 50 for mine ane he was 8 inches or so.

I have no problems with him eating slime coats. he feeds well on tetra monster pellets and freeze dried krill.
