Hi,i purchased a wild caught female marble motoro 2weeks ago.She is feeding on worms ,prawns and mussels. She is kept in the 600 gallon pond with a retic, yepezii and an orbignyii ray.
Problem, she will not feed when the lights are on,she will only feed in the dark, anyone got any ideas how to get her to feed in the daytime with the other rays. ANY IDEAS!

Kent Marine's "Garlic Xtreme". Miracle in a bottle & the best $20 you will ever spend.
Pros: It creates a feeding frenzy, fights internal & external parasites, strengthens fish immune system, forever shelf life, 100% natural
Cons: expensive, stinky

She'll come around eventually. It may take a few days, or weeks, or even months. At least shes eating, and a varied diet at that.

If you can set your lights on a dimmer, or even cover them up a bit to lessen the brightness, you can start with a dark tank, and then slowly progress to a fully lit tank within a few weeks. she shouldnt even notice it, if the progress is very slow.

only offer food with lights on????

so by this your saying keep the lights on 24/7?

you have had the ray for 2 weeks.... it takes a few weeks for them to settle in 100%... rays are nocturnal as well... more active at night

maybe you should just let your ray finish settling in for a bit... as its usually advised for a new ray to be kept in a warm dark tank....

lol... there is no proof that garlic does any of the above except for increasing the palatability. unless the ray is italian... lol

lol good to see you around nic... i am kind of drugged up recently, surgery. but i meant what i said, feed them only with the lights on. my rays go crazy when i turn the lights on, cuz they know its feeding time. not keep lights on 24/7 lol

just feed as normal, continue to feed with the lighs off also.
as she gets used to tank life she will start to feed normally. give her time. hunger will take over and soon she will come out as soon as food hits the water.

atleast she is eating.

I do not, nor have I ever, owned a stingray. That said, I can assure you with absolute 100% certainty that 2 drops of Garlic Xtreme dropped into the water WILL have every one of your fish frantically searching for food. The scent makes them hungry, but I have no idea whether or not the food tastes better. Even if you dont believe in the anti-parasitic claims, it will get your fish to eat. I have used it on several super skinny Loaches & they start eating immediately. They fatten up very quickly & its much safer than other anti-parasite meds.
