Greetings all. Quick question regarding my female betta sorority. I have 4 females and three of them are pretty evenly matched, they chase each other occasionally but there are no signs of horribly damaged fins so no one is being too aggressive. However the fourth (and smallest) female of the group gets chased by not one but all of them. She is supposed to be a deep blue/purple combination similar to one of the others in the tank but instead she is washed out and has the infamous stress stripe. She is chased by one particular individual the most but they all take their turn. As this is my first time with a sorority I am wondering if it would be better to add a 5th female to try and even out the aggression, or should I remove the weakling and replace her with a stronger individual? Whichever option is better I will do because I can't let her remain constantly stressed and pale it's killing me. I also don't want to have only 3 in there because thats not a good number for a sorority tank so if I have to purchase another to replace her and let her live on her own to make everyone happy I will do so.

Thank you in advance for your replies and sorry for the book :D

I think you should remove her for now and get a few more. Do you have any hiding spots in the tank for her?

oh plenty of hiding places, plant cover and everything. All the rest are fine, bright colors, active, eating well, occasional jousting. It's just this one individual that is looking really bad and has those darned stress lines.
