Female betta sorority

Anyone have experience starting a female betta sorority setup? I think it would look quite nice in one of my new tanks but i heard its a tricky process.. ideas?

How many females could manage in a 60g wide?

I had 3 in a 20 before with no issues but I heard it's a luck of the draw.

You want to overcrowd them like certain cichlids and make the tank like a jungle.

The smallest you'd want is 5 of them in a 10g, so you'd have quite a few in a 60g. Are you going to have just them or were there other fish you wanted?
