female con eating fry

i've got a pair of cons in a 20gallon long tank, the first time they spawned my bristlenose ate the eggs, this is there second spawn and the fry are about 2 weeks old and the female has started to eat them and it's sent the male nuts attacking the female.
looks like there will be no fry left by the morning is this normal behaviour for young convicts.

From what I've heard it's normal. Sometimes it takes the pair a few times to get the whole "parenting" thing down. Sometimes when the female thinks the fry is in danger, she will eat them before any other fish can.

It happens. I think just about all cichlids have been prone to this behavior at one time or another. They will also eat the fry if they feel a need to spawn again.

she has stopped eating them now and they both seem to be friends again.....for now
