Do these girls grow fast, like a rd would or is it a slow growing species.

My female dovii seem to grow rather slow. The 3 dovii males that I have had over the last 2years have grown much faster than the females. I guess the growth rate all depends on the diet. For the most part, I try to limit the amount of feeders (small golden shiners) that I feed my wolf cichlids. I try to keep them on pellets. When I do feed some shiners to one of my female dovii, she usually attacks the minnow and just crushes it. I am usually pretty happy when she eats the crushed shiner. More times than not she just tears off half of the shiner. From what I have heard from people, your dovii will grow much faster in a larger tank if given the opportunity.

A fish will grow much faster in a larger tank usually to an extent, that's with any fish.

Don't forget that females don't get near as big as males so the growth might be slowing down.
