My male festae and female festae are begining to partake in definite mating rituals. They have been shaking, flapping, gill flarring and dancing for about a week now. The females egg tube (vent) has been slightly pertruding for the past couple days. I have seen the egg tube of my female jag right before she laid eggs, and it was sticking out much more. Does anyone have any pictures of there female festaes egg tube? or have any knowledge about festae tubes compared to others? She is only about 4.5 inches... And I don't have a camera at the moment that can capture enough detail. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks!

Look really carefully in and around the nest or nests - you might be suprised to find a few eggs pasted in some really strange places. She should be good to go at 4 and a half inches.................hard to say if the male is, they can be real picky. My male was about 7" and over a year old when I got my 1st batch.

My male is just over 7 inches (Best guess) and there are a few flower pots that are potential nests... I can see in all of them pretty well except for one that I would have to overturn to see into. I am assuming it would be bad to disrupt the nest if there were eggs in the upside down flowerpot?
