So I have a somewhat new 40g long tank (few months now I think?) filled with fire red shrimp and a few amano shrimp. I added some wood shrimp to the mix about three weeks ago along with a pair of tiny ottos. Then two weeks ago I added 10 baby bushy nose plecos (less than an inch long) to help get rid of algae buildup (which might actually be some form of fuzzy cyano since nobody is eating it...). Two days after adding the plecos, I found a clutch of fire red eggs abandoned, and a couple days later another. Since then I've seen another clutch or two abandoned, and lost two female fires and two more female fires still holding their eggs. One of the amanos abandoned her clutch recently too, though that could be because they'll never hatch anyways maybe.
Can anyone explain or offer a suggestion as to why my female shrimp are flipping out?
Alternatively, what are the favorites among MFK shrimpers for diets?
Cat
PS - The plecos were in a tank with shrimp when I bought them. Can they carry illnesses over?
PS 2 - The females I've seen with eggs the last few days seem to be carrying them on their walking legs/under their chest as opposed to under their tails. ... wut?
