I have had my female jag for about a month or so now and is about 6". I really wanted it as a so called "wet pet" but am having my doubts as she doesn't seem to be very interactive at all yet. I have also read that Male jags are better for this purpose. Has any one else had any luck with females with a set up like this?

Yes, absolutely. The female in my avatar I kept as a wet pet for years and she was a little beast. I kept her solo in a smallish tank, and she thrived and banged the glass all day when I was around. Unless you can dedicate a large tank to a male or a pair, you can still keep a jag and have fun watching her grow in a smaller tank as a wet pet.

I will just have to give her a little more time to settle in then. I am having trouble with her getting bored of her normal food which is hikari bio cichlid gold and when ever I give her a treat like blood worms or crickets I have to fast her for a day or so before she will eat the hikari pellets again. I also feed her massivore as a treat sometimes and she cant get enough of it but I am guessing she cant have that as a staple?

I say give your Jag what it wants if its a good prepared food at least ...I do use massivore as a staple food for my Jags because of the fact that they love it and they are responsive... It may or may not be as good as bio gold I've never really looked at the ingredients on bio gold but I would venture to guess that it's fairly comparable..... At the end the day you want to keep imprinting behavior on your jag that makes it come out when it see's you.... Jags are very temperamental so l like anything that gets one come out on a regular basis that's not damaging (like feeder fish or very low quality high starch foods).. .. Here's my female jag greetng me as I come downstairs by the Tank she is in.... At times she is more responsive than the male..... and she will hover in place or stare at me until I submit to her will and drop some in.....
