Doing water changes
I came home today from lunch and one of my breeding pairs of jags the male had almost killed the female! Luckily I came home from lunch cause shes barely alive and wouldnt have made it if i got home at the usaul time. When I left back to work she was barely breathing now she breathing better and I just did a water change and remedicated the tank and raised the temp. hopefully she makes it. Im curious is better to do multiple water changes this week or waiting a week like the medication recommends?

I find giving them time to chill alone helps a lot lets them get some peace
I have a Jag in isolation right now
my Flowerhorn likes to beat on him
he was thrashed when i put him in there
now hes fatter than ever and happy
rosy red minnows make him feel nice

do you use aquarium salt?

Yeah I use salt. The thing that struck me odd was there was still fry in the tank that they were protecting.

could it have been a food dispute
I had a Jag that would get crazy over sharing food
Ive never bred them so Im not familiar with their breeding behavior

same with mine, my male wanted the female to lay sooner than she wanted every time, thats why i dont have her anymore....

the male would want the female to lay after the fry was about 2 - 3weeks old, there would be small fry in the tank as well as a batch of eggs, i guess the last time she had no more to give him so he just bashed her to hell

we have had to seperate our 2 aswell as it was the female that was bashing his tail as it was in her way when she tried picking the fry up so we have put a pice of corrigated plastic in as a divider the fry pass through and both fish are looking after them happily and looking at each other through the plastic and seem very happy and hes bruised tail can take a break although he has shown no aggression towords her at all

   Well she dies last night. I woke up this morning and first thing i did was check on her and she was no longer breathing. I touched her to see maybe she is sleeping but she didnt move so shes dead. I got the male in 240 and i think there are 3 other feamles in there hopefull he'll pair up with one of them
