Female Jag problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is just what my female looked like last night and when I went to take a picture a few min ago she now looks like this.

I would give her some time to lay and that may fix her.

In the last picture she is 10 or 11"

I had trouble getting my pair to spawn untill I put them into a 55 alone. It's kind of funny that when they were in a 120 they wouldn't spawn and it didn't seem to matter if I had other fish in it or if they were alone but as soon as I moved them into a smallertank they spawn like clock work.

Hope it helps....

BTW Do Jags have to choose their mates? I don't really know but the 2 pairs I have act like they might because they stay together all the time, even when it's not time to spawn and they don't wander away like my other breeding ciclids do when it's not time to spawn.

Thanks repair.

I'm excited to see if she lays now. Of course my Featherfin will have a field day if she does. He doesnt take crap from anyone and i'm sure he'll eat them.

I'm not sure on the choosing question. I just assume they do.

If they do spawn they will try and defend them and they are a thick bodied fish with a big mouth.
