Apologies in advance for what is set to be another 'what's my Ray worth' thread ....

I've been keeping Rays for over 12 years now and pride of place in my collection is a large female Leopoldi who I've grown from 4" to 22" in around 8 years. My family circumstances will be changing this year (for the better!) and my spare time will be even further stretched - and I really don't feel I will be able to do justice to this beautiful ray and her breeding potential.

My plan is to move her on to someone with the experience and space to keep her as healthy as I have for the past 8 years. When she vacates the largest tank then I will move her pups (1 x m and 1 x f from the litter of 5 in April 2009) into the display tank and I can then reduce my tank count by 33% and not worry about bloodlines and breeding issues for a while.

My problem is I have no idea as to the value of these creatures now as they seem to change month by month. I know they are only worth what someone is willing to pay and I also know that it is not just about the money. But I do need to start somewhere in putting a rough price on her, as posting an advert with 'open to offers' is just asking for trouble !

You will be able to find out more about her via my previous postings and threads, take a look in my history.

Although the primary objective of this thread is to guage a suitable price, if you feel you could offer a good home to this Ray then drop me a message outlining your current set up and experience. (Sorry but I wouldn't entertain offers from outside of the UK)

Thanks in advance

Martin

Pics pics pics for a better #

I'm in the UK this week. Give you a tenner? Lemme just check my carry-on allowance.

But srsly, would be nice to link some pics instead of expecting people to do research on your ray to help answer your qn, no?

Yep, just couldn't get on the pc with the pictures earlier ..... here you go

1st Picture shows Female with a 2 hour old pup
2nd and 3rd picture show her with her 'new' fella after she killed the old man. She's the one on top in both pictures.

That's a good size Leo but I'm sorry to say classic Leo prices have crashed in the UK

A few things are against you size and what you are hoping to get for her

You say you have had her for 8 years and are proud that you got her to this size unfortunately thats what
Most people want to do buy small and grow them up them selfs

Them the price she is probably worth much more to you than you are willing to let her go for please don't think Leo are worth as much as they were a few years back I have seen Leo selling for as little as £300 now if you are willing to travel and a male Leo that was on AC for months at £500

I know the Leo I just quoted the price of don't have the size of yours but the size is not in your favour with your ray as not many people have the tank to hold her

Good luck with the sale she is a nice looking ray
