I currently have 3 females and one male in my main setup. Wanting to add one
more ray. My thinking is to add a male to incease breeding competion so the
single male doesn't get fat and lazy about breeding. Or is my logic flawed and
should I add another female. I have one of each picked out as long as they
aren't sold before my tax return gets here.:D

Advice/opinions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

its easier to tell lineage if theres only one male, if you dont care about that then id say its your call really

i say go with a female, another male might cause aggression in the tank.

Competition and breeding go hand in hand.... My single kept males get lazy.

Do you have enough room for another pair?

i would actually keep the one male and add another female it might just cause more madness in there

i would deff get a male. with one male, he might only pair up with one female

competition with males is a must for breeding IMO

Thanks for the responses, male is the way I am going.

i was told by experts that you always need two males at least for breeding groups.and find the nicest males you can its important, will make nicer pups.
