Is it possible that these two could breed together. I have both in a 110 gallon along with a male Mayan, they were supposed to be a breedding pair. The female has nothing to do with the male, he's been left out in the cold. The female and Carpintis hang out in the same cave. Recently the female has become very aggressive towards any fish that swims near the cave, except with the Carpintis. I'm thinking she's laid some eggs in the cave. Is this possible, it certainly wasn't my intention????

Man I hope not......

Almost any central american cichlid can reproduce with any other c/a cichlid. So yes it is possible.

agreed...very possible so just don't do anything special and the resultant fry should get eaten by the rest of the community.

if possible i'd consider rehousing one of the pair to avoid continued breeding in the future.

worst case, you get some free feeders
