i just put the salvini in the tank yesterday and noticed that the texas was doin a little dancin and showin off. which is usually displayed by the male. but it was weird that i thought i saw the tube hangin out of the texas. i guess hes just hung.

LOL, you are nutz. Too bad for him any female's not gonna be able to feel it. But is there any black on dorsal? From pics doesnt look like it. I say MALE

I'd say male, no spot and tall body shape. All my females have been a bit sleeker of body and a big black splotch on dorsal.

No there's no black on the dorsal fin at all. He's def a male. He is in spawning colors now. They look awsome when there underside turns all black. Plus he took over the tank from the pair of cubans that r in there. Thanks for all the replies.

When the underside of their bodies turn black, what does that indicate?

You know what a Breeder of Carpintis of 30 years experience told me that the black dorsal doesn't work for sexing. So best thing to vent.

Color changes are just moods, but the mood could include being sick or stressed too. Like we always do our own kids, just monitor and keep an eye on them.
