In my quote I have a story of a friends fish that died in a fire. Before they died the red devil female and the managuese male breed. Also his female green texas and male firemouth also breed. He gave me some and I kept all of them in a 10 gallon tank. Unfortunately all execpt one died, the devil managuese mix. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so what kind of temperment will this fish have? Seems pretty mean now. What do you guys think?

i think i wanna see pics

Need pics.

Yeah we have all heard this before. Sorry but without pics i doubt u will get many answers. If its true it would be a pretty mean fish though.

They aren't close enough to breed. That is like breeding a cat and a dog. Or a farm boy and a sheep. They can do the deed but there will not be offspring.

The parentage of your fish must be mistaken for other breed(s). A picture will help identify what you really have.

Normally I would have agreed with you chompers. Only thing is that at the time there were only 4 fish in the tank. Managuense, Red Devil, Butterkofi, and a Motaguense. Excluding the motaguese all of them were over 10". As a matter of fact I actually bought all of them. The RD was definitely the female cause she gave eggs almost every year. Also when the fry were born she protected them like hell. I will upload somepics of him by fri. Comps on the fritz. My fish looks exactly like a managuese with some pretty wierd colors.

They should be pretty interesting when they grow up and show all of their color and other traits. I wonder if they will spawn again in the future.
