So I plan to add a female red devil to an 8 foot x 30 inch x 18 inch cichlid community. I've kept female dovii (Who are fairly mild and alot less crazier than their male counterparts) but I'm wondering, is the female red devil any less aggressive than the males?
Probably not a good idea. My female red devil was just that... A devil! Super cool fish but not real good with tankmates. There are exceptions to the rule and with a good tank setup and ample territorial space it could work.

Are all amphilophus species like this? I've been researching them and I plan to keep doing so for a little while but I only know of a few red isletas, red devil (philosophus, I think they're called) and midas.
My male midevil (midas) is a beast, and I would not even consider putting another fish with him, but he is in a 75. I have been told that in larger tanks the these fish are not problematic, but I would be cautious. I would say no even for a female.
i have 6 midas/red devils in my 300g community along with a butti... i only see damage when spawning occures in the 300, saying that i have had the occasional pure evil amph that had to be moved when i had my 180g... female midas would be more placid than a midevil or rd imo. saggittae and isletas are less aggressive again ime, not kept hoogaborum so not sure on those. i think you should be fine in a tank with that footprint, just be prepared to divide her off if things go tits up!-)
