A few months back I purchased two Sals, male and female. For some odd reason the female has REALLY outgrown the male. Any thoughts why? Now she's even bullying him, not bad, but shes in charge. Will she even pair with him at this point? Thanks for replies and thoughts.

You need to seperating them... yes females can be more feisty than males but it seems in this case its upsetting the male and his eating behavior and growth rate. Let the male bulk up and outgrow the female as he needs to be dominant or at least a 3rd larger. He'll soon catch up and overtake her and become the brooding brute he needs to be.

Yea my female outgrew my old male but from my experience the males are really aggressive when they hit the 3.5-4" mark.... And I mean REALLY aggressive lol

thanks guys for the responses, I have other tanks set up, but nowhere I can really put him without worrying about other problems occurring. Theyre in a 55 now, and they are nowhere near full size, actually finally just showing color, maybe 2.5-3" on the male, and maybe 3-3.5" on the female, I added a male con from another tank, who may be about the same size as the female but much beefier, and also 4 small silver dollars to grow out and add to the school in my 125. With those guys in the tank there is a lot going on so her aggression is not focused on the male. the con is more or less running the tank and she rarely gives chase to the male anymore although im sure shes still more dominant. I'm gonna leave it be for now and let them grow out. The aggression hasnt lead to anything nasty so far. No shredded fins, or missing scales, just a little chasing. If it does get nasty I guess I'll have to separate them. Thanks for the suggestions
