So I just picked up some WC Umbees for Rapps and they are indeed truly amazing looking fish as other have already mentioned here on the boards. The colors are unlike any Umbees I've seen before and they're personalities are extremely outgoing. I'm very fortunately to own these rare species.

Anyways, within two days, the female layed some eggs. With the breeding of course came her intense yellow coloring and her aggression which she dealt on the male. Unfortunately, the day after I noticed that they were missing and I assumed they were eaten...I only have female and male Umbee in the tank and as I of now, I believe are not "paired" up yet. So far no signs of aggression towards each other but they hang out in opposite sides of my 8' tank.

Some pics for reference of the male (top picture), the female (next two pics), and the eggs. Sorry for the crappy pic quality and the water marks. Hopefully, next time it will be a successful spawn!

cool about the spawn but really you are that impressed hmm from the other pics I have seen posted of others I am not for wild caught and the price tag along with it not at all..
I'm definitely impressed with them so far. Their personality alone is much more outgoing then other Umbees I've or others own or have owned from what I've seen...but I know each one is different. To me they are worth it as they are one of my favs and Rapps was my only method of getting WC unless you can get me some :naughty:

lets see a male?
I'll try to get more pics of the male but he just won't stay still = blurry pics. But he looks like all the other Umbees that rapps posted pics of in his thread for these....yellow tint w/o the coloring of a male yet. Still a long ways for him...I guess we got to wait and see how the males turn out.

Yeah, the price is bonkerz but, yet again, it's a case of supply and demand. Wish I had the $ and the space to justify buying and keeping one though.
Defintely a supply and demand situation. I had some $ and decided to shell it out for some of these and again they're worth it to me.

yeah glad you are happy than bro I just don't think the quality is there on these fish from all the pics I have seen. I even had trouble believing they were wild caught.; The other guys pic posted on here I had to laugh right off my computer screen just crap! Seen F3 looking better. However again the important thing is the owner enjoys the fish, so I wish you nothing but success with your new pair(yours looked a bit better than his), and who knows maybe your male is nice got a pic?

they look good man. love their coloring. good luck with them.

pretty ***inine comments from some (that obviously dont read your responses saying its hard to get a pic of the male) that seem jealous that they dont have them and dont understand some people arent born photographers...especially to judge a 3-4 inch fish saying it looks like crap and thinking they know what a wild caught fish looks like.

all kinds on mfk I guess.
