nope, just like humans, the males are the bigger, stronger, faster, smarter and overall better than the females, which are mostly just good for breeding.
in cichlids, the male gotta be able to dominate the female to breed. So I dont think females grow bigger than males. If so then they cant breed and they dont exist
yeah exactly, there are some fishes like with sharks where the female will grow larger since she has to have so much more energy for developing the babies, but in cichlids a female will usually not pair with a male that is smaller than her ensuring that he is strong enough for his genes to be worth passing on to her eggs
