I picked up this guy from a LFS in Frederick MD today. They have had the tank with fenestratus for the better part of 6 months. I noticed that some of them were starting to "peel" several weeks ago. I went back in today and found this beauty. Odd thing is that not all of the fish in the tank had gone through the color change. Some of the fish were starting to color up with the typical fenestratus colors. I asked the folks in the store where they got them from, including the Owner, and they weren't much help. He said that his supplier from "up north" sold them to him and he bought them because he had never had fenestratus before.

What ever you call it, I am stoked. Right now it is probably around 3".

I don't know mate, i'm not an expert on vieja and it's hard to get a clear idea through the bag but it looks and sounds like a red devil/midas to me.. Clearly a nice looking fish though, either way! :)

I am pretty confident that it is a veija/paratheraps species. Same body shape as the other fenestratus in the tank. There have been some recent threads on whether it is a color variant of the regular fenestratus or a separate species altogether.
