Around here
I'm interested in 3' square custom tank and I like glass and acryllic tanks, but plywood and concrete really appeal to me. I'm not a big fan however of the weight and immobility of concrete block.
Ferrocement is something I just recently started to consider due to it's light weight and lack of limitations when I start designing.
I was wondering, has anyone else use ferrocement? If you don't know what it is, it's a light weight concrete that uses welded wire for reinforcement, they used to use the stuff to built boats (they still use it in the college concrete canoe contests) and more recently homes.

*if this is a duplicate, my apologies, I thought I already posted it, but then I began to doubt myself and so here we are. :screwy:

I was assuming that, that or everyone thinks I'm burnt for considering it lol. They make water storage tanks out of it that have been in use for decades, but my worry is putting a glass or acrylic 'window' in it. They do it with housing, but homes aren't full of water, that and I am not real great at any sort of construction. Never even used a caulk gun in my life 'til today. :D
Oh well, I guess we'll see when the weather warms up, I'll try it and see how it goes.

I am a new poster long time lurker. I have been fascinated by ferrocement for awhile and I was thinking of making my own tank out of it. Personally I think that ferrocement would be an easier means of making a structurally sound large tank. It also has the added advantage of being very flexible design wise. I would like to help with any advice that I can to help. I know I am posting on an old post but if you have completed your tank I would like to know.

I've just started a small pond build using ferrocement sandwiched over a foam core.
I might post a thread about it on here seeing as there are more people interested in ferro too.

Now I'm interested
