I plan to keep plants in my 125 when I finally get it. My question is, how do i best fertilize them without co2 injection. Lighting shouldn't be a problem, I will have a good setup. I'm talking about liquid fertilizers or something. I will be stocking the tank with a fair amount of sunfish and natives, so their waste should help too. Does anyone have experience with capping potting soil in their tanks? I don't understand this method. I feel like it would cloud the water terribly. Also, will the plants be enough to reduce the ammonia and take care of accumulated fish waste on the bottom? I obviously couldn't vacuum the substrate without kicking up soil. Any tips, shared knowledge, or alternative suggestions are greatly appreciated as I know I'm consulting many experts here on MFK.

In heavy stocked tanks the need for fertz at lower light isn't as high as say a medium light tank with small stock.
If I was you all I'd do is add micro's every now and again using a product like flourish.
