then the pics go a bit slim until now...
male is now around 8 inches and the female 7 inch although she has gone very dark so in an attempt to bring her back ive slimmed the tank right back... ivge spoke to others with nice female who also had theirs go through a dark phase.

is 2.5 to over 8 inch ok for 9 months growth?

is that really fast then?? not done anything special, 50% pw waterchanges, feed once a day hikari gold, in a 297g tank may affect growth... to be fair they were really lucky to not get eaten considering what has been in there in that time!

Nice festae dude. How you get it to grow that fast

i dont think that is that fast tbh but as wrote above mate lol /\/\/\/\

That's fast for a festae. They usually range about a .5" a month

Anyone know if there are different subspecies of festae? Reason why I ask is I notice a lot on here with heavy black barrying but others I noticed, including mine. Are more solid color with a lot less barring. Mine is a most solid green gold color

so ive managed .75 inch per month!-) they've been in the 300 since 2.5 inch though around much larger fish so its been grow or get eaten lol! i've noticed they've been growing longer rather than taller for a while so hopefully they'll start filling out again soon... the profile seems to change depending on how they are growing if you check the pics.

mine go from heavy barring to none depending on their mood, there are different colllection points and lots of threads here about the strains if you do a search, mine are supposedly F0 (so wild caught) rio tumbes (which is a river in peru) from dan at COA
