Anyone had a female festae and male Texas (Herichthys cyanoguttatus) successfully spawn before? Mine are trying.

that's cool. Cant wait to see the outcome.. good luck.

Mind sharing some pictures?

My bigger concern is whether it will impact the festae's size. She's about five inches and I don't want it to stunt her growth as I've heard it can do with some fish. I still wasn't 100 percent sure the festae was a female. Guess I know now.

So do they have eggs now or do you have fry? There are countless cichlid hybrids now. I wouldn't be surprised if your pair did successfully breed. I've never seen a Festae x Tex. Very curious.

there is a posti think called every thing cichlid hybrids you can find on mfk .....there is a pic of a festae x texas......

Haven't seen anything yet, but they've cleared a space under a piece of rock leaning against an open flower pot and are defending it pretty aggressively.

Yeah that sounds like breeding behavior. What size tank and what tankmates? I don't know how your Tex/Festae pair will respond, but a breeding Festae pair can be very aggressive to tankmates so look out for the other fish.

Female Dempsey, male GT, Firemouth pair and pleco. So far the aggression is not that bad. There is no intense chasing, just keeping others away.

The Texas is the best he's looked in a couple of years. His colors are really showing nicely.
