It is possible however improbable that eggs will be produced within a week or 2 of the last clutch of eggs. The mating behavior is going to be a constant at least it was for mine. Once paired they were inseperable and spent most of their collective time mining the fry pit. They bred 4x a year but acted like they were gonna breed everyday. The tell tale sign for mine was the male turning bright yellow with pronounced black barring, the female turned brillant orange, then their tubes would become highly visible. This was my case tho, my male was not normally yellow as I've seen tons of times, almost common, here on MFK. My male was normally Red - maroon w/blue jewels and turquise around the face when not breeding. The female was yellow with a red head and fins. The color change was very dramatic for those two when spawning.
