I was wondering at what size do Festae's start to color up and become red? cause mine are about 2 inches and have started showing some good stripes or bands whichever you want to call them, but I want to know when they will start showing some bright red?

i believe at 3-4" u can already see the color come out.....

I have a f1 female that is a good 5inches, she is as dull as dull can get, she has red in her fins but all her body is brown with big black dots going down her some times these dots turn into stripes.

so is there a chance that a festae will not color up, even when adult? and what would cause that?

only reason I could think of for a festae to not color up some would be if itere either hybrid or the result of generations of inbreeding.

My female was dull most of the time, but she was very much stressed from her spawning partner. When she was ready to spawn, she lit up like a fireworks display.
