I have a large male festae (about 15") He was doing fine until a couple days ago.
My girlfreind bought me 2 2.5" sun catfish which we put in with the Festae. The next day he was tipped towards the bottom but seemed to ba able to right himself with no problem I assumed he was hunting the catfish in the rock crevices. We then went away for 2 days and today when we arrived home we found him spinning around head down. He seems OK as long as he is swimming but as soon as he tries to stop he tips down and starts spinning slowly.
If he ate one of those catfish could the fin spines have punctured his air bladder? Could they be poisonous to him? It all happened right after the addition of those fish so It must be related.
I knew there was a good chance he would eat them but they were a gift so I put them in anyway.
What do you guys think?
