My festae pair spawned today for the second time. They first spawned early last month. When should I pull the fry from the first spawn? They are currently 1/2 inch long and eating NLS small fish formula pellets. Additionally I'm going away for a few days and don't have anyone I trust to check in on my fish. I'm leaning towards pulling the fry but I wanted to get some advice from members who have grown out some festae. Thanks :)

Do you have two spawns in same tank? If so then pull first spawn out ASAP if you wanna keep fry from second spawn. It could go either way, fry could eat new fry, parents could eat older fry to save new fry or the parents could eat everything:/ but st least this way by pulling older fry, you can guarantee survival of first batch

Pull the fry out! Play it safe and pull em out. At least you will have a definite batch of fry when you get back.

Complete goof On my part never thought about New fry getting eaten just old fry getting picked off. I'm removing them tonight n ill put my divider up n separate parents until I get back. Allergies got me In a blur

If you divide the pair then don't pull divider untill your ready to pull second batch and let them spawn again. Otherwise hell will break loose!! But it is a safe idea to divide while your gone to ensure survival:)

The divider is permanently in the tank I just have a "love door" that I can lift up or down. I hope ill know by tomorrow if the eggs were fertilized properly by the male. Last time he missed the mark on. Few haha. Thanks for the advice I'm def gonna separate the pair for the males safety. The female went nuts on him after the last spawn n they were separated until a few days ago. He literally tried to come thru the glass at me so I figured he was ready to spawn lol
