The nest made of stone has produced about 100 babies. I've tried to take pics but the substrate is camoflaguing the fry. Heres the only pic so far that shows some swimming in front of the red rock............still got another nest with unhatched eggs made of wood..............guess it's time to research the care of festae fry.

coool man was it hard for you to get them to pair up? how old? i got some at home about 4 so im hoping mine start pairnig off soon XD hehe how can u tell which is male and female.

the female is the one with the colors lol no but the female's dorsal is in many cases black whereas the male isnt but there are cases where thats not a good way to tell.. females do tend to have more brighter colors and more attractive than the males.. IMO

Congrats on the fry Otherone... Im waiting on mine to lay eggs I was lucky to buy only 2 festae and ended up being male and female and paired up woop woop :))

The male was bought singularly the females were bought as a group of sisters - introduced the male to the brood when they were 3-4" and the females have fought for nesting space til there were 3 left soon to be 2.
I don't recommend inbreeding with festae i've tried it before and everytime the dom. brother kills the dom. sister leaving me with 1 festae left from a brood of 8 or 9. good luck.
