Hello. Recently got 3 festae . A male and 2 females. Have had them QTd before introducing them to the bigger tank. The male is doing g fine but the females are acting weird. Neither of them left the right corner of the tank for 2 days. Now, I come home and the smaller female is sitting up under the filter. I can stick something in there near her and she will go back to the bottom right corner with the other one but as soon as I leave the room she goes right back under the over hang of the filter... I don't get it? Anyone else's done this before
Or something similar? I don't know what to do about it...

I've noticed festae are very shy fish. Atleast when young anyways. Plus you just moved them so there very stressed. Fish love hiding behind filter intakes they can't see you and feel safe. Stressed anand shy that's alll.

I need to spark up my fish life

Thanks just making sure first ones I've owned and I love them so don't want anything to go wrong with them

They're prolly acting like that cause the male is beating on them. And since they're new they are still skittish when your around which is why you haven't noticed. My suggestion is to divide alp three with the male in the middle. Give them a couple weeks to settle in and pull divider. You might need some dithers then too.

The male is not even in the tank with them ATM though. It's the 2 females in a tank, and the male in a tank to himself I was going to add him today after work with a divider.

I find young festaes to be the shiest cichlids i have come across. Males and females.

I am on my third male, a 6 incher and he is ridiculously shy.

I do not understand the reason for the Green Terror thing...

Ok I think the larger female is beating her up. I just came home and the smaller ones fins are shredded horribly. Going to separate them.
