For the second time my 8 inch male and my 6 inch female festae successfully bred. However, for the second time, right at or before the time they hatched one or both of them ate the eggs.

Is the male or female more likely to do this? Should I remove the male? I have another 8 inch male and 5 inch female. Should I mix them up and try again? Any suggestions are appreciated. They are by themself with no other fish in the tank.

Divide them for a few days then add some dithers and let them try again. I've had plenty of expirience with my males eating the eggs. In fact I had one completely pig out so much he died of gluttony!! Festae aren't the easiest fish to pair and spawn like you would think. Just be patient and keep a divider handy.

The pair in question is in a 120. I have another smaller pair currently in a 55.
