Ok I bought about 20 festae ranging from 1.25-2". They were sold as festae but they were cheaper than expected. I put em in the tank and they dont really look like festae. Now, I breed red devils, so I already know that most babies will be dull in color. But these guys have spangling already. The spot on the tail is definitely in the right spot for festae..but they really look like carpintis or something lol. Experts have any pics or comments?? Heres a few pics..Ignore the dovii...

I'm not sure exactly what they are but they definitely are not Festae.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw them was Carpintis fry.

Could be juvie carpintis but I really think it might be juvie red texas (RT), a type of carpintis hybrid. The worming pattern on the gill plate is consistent with either, at this age.

Some look like carpintis, a couple look like dovii.

I agree, I just figured he already had those and put the carpintis in with them to grow out.
