Wanted to see if anyone had an idea of the sex of this fish. I bought a group of 5 baby festae around 4-5 months ago (started at a bit under an inch) and this is the most dominate and biggest of the group at around 2.75-3 inches. The fish has a lot of red around the mouth as well as metallic green around the eye. I know many say the half black dorsal is a sign of a female however just unsure as it is the most dominate and fastest growing of the group

Like the one in my pic, the one in your 1st pic appears to be leaning toward female, due to the coloration in the dorsal.
Although it may be too young to discern.
It would have helped if you got closer, clearer shots though.
I tried to edit yours to get closer, but it just blurred out.

Excuse the photos they were taken off my iPhone. These seem to be the best I can get

I'm guessing your festae are still very young.
When young the have a black blotch that travels from mid body into the dorsal.
Here is a young one, where the blotch is still part of the body.

now a little older it is moving into the dorsal.

in females, it becomes a distinctive feature for determining sex. Directly below 2 females

In males it disappears, unless in spawning condition.

So until that blotch either appears distinctive in the dorsal (or not) it is difficult to call.
In your pics, it is still in the body.
