Hi All,
Lately, my festae has been jumpy and swimming erratically. The open wound on its mouth is probably due to the fish hitting the glass, rocks, and filter. It's in a quarantine tank now and I'm treating it with melafix. I don't really know if he has any sickness. He's not eating lately and other than the open wound, he has no other signs.

That looks pretty bad. I would do enough water changes to remove melafix and start antibiotic treatment. If you can get methylene blue, I would start doing daily 30 minute baths dosing 1ml per gallon in conjunction with antibiotic treatment. What is the ph of your aquarium?

I also agree it looks bacterial, so an antibiotic would also be my choice.
But as to whether a gram neg or gram pos infection, can't tell by looking at the fish.

You can try and see if Paraguard has any effect until you get antibiotics. Without knowing if it is gram negative or gram positive, I would try both

Erythromycin and Kanaplex

or

Maracyn 1 and Maracyn 2

It died this morning. It kept ramming itself against the glass and made the wound worst.

Do you know if aquarium amoxicillin good against bacterial infections?
