Festae Substrate

[Dilema]

What do those of you who keep or have kept Festae think is the best colour substrate for them ? Have you tried them on different colours to see what gave the best results ?

Any picture comparisons would be great too

i use a tan natural color for all my fish and all my festae look great. i recently saw a tank with all black gravel and black background with lots of manz driftwood. probly the best looking set up ive seen, i took a pic with my phone but i cant find it sorry

I've got mine on black gravel with a black background at the moment, but i am thinking about changing it to a more natural setup.

I use a light layer of pool filter sand in most of my set-ups.

Imo to get they're colors to POP! I recommend using lighter substrate, like white sand or natural gravel has worked the best for me

Right,

I think i am going to try a few different colour substrates in this tank before i make the final decision on the 180.

As already said it is currently set up with black gravel, would changing the gravel to sand create a mini cycle or would i be ok ? Maybe i could just add a layer of sand on top of the gravel ? There are 5 Festae in the tank so if changing things around is going to cause any kind of problem i wont bother.
