I'm sure this has been asked before. I searched the forum and I really didn't did much of what I was looking for. They will be in a 220 72x24x30, what will work, from your alls experience. This will be my first Festae, I know how aggressive they are, just trying to figure out what would work best, thanks in advance

I've tried a variety of tankmates over the years and I've found that they hate convicts lol lately I've uses umbee growouts and midas growouts. And I've found that midas work the best out of all the tankmates I've uses in the past. But make sure they're smaller than the festae and in a 220, you could get away with at least 6 midas with a festae pair. I personally would use more;) they also assist in gettin the festae to spawn. Giving I wouldn't expect the midas to stay in perfect condition. Best thing regardless of what you decide to use, either grow everything out together from small sizes and or ensure the festae are bigger than the others.

Possibly some of the meaner Vieja species. Maybe some Texas. These would leave your Festae as the dominant fish so they should be the ones picking on the other fish.

It's tough because they're mean fish. You almost have to decide if you want your Festae to be low or high on the totem pole. You can put them with meaner fish or nicer fish. And you may find that nothing works and they kill everything in their tank.

Why not just have the pair, and a big shoal of filament barbs and clown loaches (or a largish cat)? That would be a killer tank imho. And you wouldn't have to deal with cichlid-cichlid aggression.

Well my male is 8" n I have 2 females 7" n 4.5". If that helps any.

Ok my festae are 8" male 7" female so could I get away wit putting in a 6" Midas? Cause when I buy the tank on Friday it's coming with a 6" Midas. I also have 3 salvinis growing out my largest is 3" could those maybe work? I just don't wanna have just 2 festae in a 220 by thereselves. And if I got a catfish and my festae spawned I'd have no babies the next morning n that would make me sad haha
