Now when I was growing my two festae out a lot of people was haveing problem of them fighting and killing each other but mines was the getting along now a couple months later I notice about 2days ago that I had a female and a male but now they are fighting and puffing their gills out and also flapping their tales at each other is this normal I currently have them in my 240gal with some other tanks mates, should I slit them up because I have a 30 gal on my room ? And btw my male is 4inches and my female is 3.5 and really happy and lucy that I got a male and a female because I only bought them 2 from unbeeking ! And I will post pixs later

It's very normal. Maybe you should split them for a while if they're getting really nasty.

My pair of Festae before this pair was tough to make happen. I lost many males to a super aggressive killing female before I finally got lucky.

~punctuation would be nice :) ~ had to read the post a couple of times lol

A lot of people say the males are more aggressive but IME, when young the female is much more aggressive toward the male.

Thanks for the info man and I don't wanna have to poke holes in there fins but if I have to I will lol and also which one should I put in my 30 gal which tank would have them growing faster the 240gal with othere fish or the 30 gal alone I won't make female to frow the fastest

Please dont slit them up :-( haha

Man it sucks they don't get along. You should have gotten a group because getting only two greatly reduced your chance of getting a pair. You could divide the tank or separate the more aggressive one to the small tank for now. Maybe give them some time away from one another for a bit and try them again. There's no magic potion unfortunately you have to get lucky.

I say divide them for a couple weeks or so.. might even wait until the female is coloring up then try re-introduce them again. Yes by getting only two does reduce your possibility of obtaining a pair but by being patient and working the divider only pulling while your able to supervise will help you increase your chances of pairing them out plus keeping them alive;)
