About a week and half ago my festae stopped eating. He still acts normal and does not appear to have anything wrong with him. He is starting to look like he is malnourished. He used to be the most aggressive eater in the tank. He is still teritorial and chases other fish. he is about five inches.

here is a before pic.he pretty much looks the same just a little thinner anything I could be doing

He looks fine just by looking. I'd just give it a couple of days and then try and feed him 1 or 2 pieces of large cichlid pellets.

u sure he isnt a uro? spot looks a little too big. i had a 11" female who was coloured just like that. most likely the fish has lost its place in the heirarchy of the tank. it happens alot with africans. he should pick up soon enough. theres only so long a cichlid will starve itself for.
that same uro i had starved itself for 2 weeks when i got it. stubborn fish
i hope it starts eating again soon! dont worry too much

pretty sure its a festae other forums have confirmed that. most likely male. the spot on a uro would touch the bottom the flash on the camera hides some of his color.

that is a sweet looking pair. I am feeding him a combination of krill, hikari gold and wardley cichlid flakes

Hmmsome times cichlids just go threw hunger strikes he should start eating again soon

I would try feeding him earth worms and shrimp

earth worms? Seriously? I've never heard of that for cichlids... sounds interesting. Personally I wouldn't put him on a special diet I'd just let him work it out
