one of my male festaes has what almost looks like a white head on his side. It is bulged out a little and looks like it has a small white tip on it. He is acting perfectly normal though. I have never seen this before. urrgghhh this makes two fish problems that I have never seen before within a month and a half of each other. Tanks have good water too.

ammonia=0
nitrite=0
nitrate~10-20 ppm
Temp is 80 F

Thats sounds kinda what my body fungus looked like when it first started....

and by kinda I mean exactly but without a pic Ill leave it at kinda....

Im still trying to get a pic of mine too

It’s definitely not a fungus but I will try to take a pic of it when I get home. It looks pretty much exactly like a pimple. But I’ll pull him out and see if I can see anything attached to him and get a pic while I’m at it. It on his side not anywhere near gills or fins or anything :(

Sounds like one of the aeromonas or pseudamonas infections, in which case the pimple will rupture leaving a large sore, it is often fatal and contagious. If so, treat the entire tank with something like oxytetracycline and binox, tri-sulfa, or maracyn plus, especially if you also give an antibiotic laced food. WARNING, use surgical gloves if you handle the fish after the wound ruptures, in rare cases some types of aeromonas can cause intestinal, skin, or systemic infection in humans.

Actually that doesn't look like furuncolis or aeromonas, is the center protrubanance fairly thin? Hard to tell but from the pic it looks a bit like an anchor worm or is shield shaped, an argulus. If it is a wide solid shape try to remove it with tweezers, if it looks like this, it is an argulus (fish louse, remove it and if you don't see any more you are cool. if it has a small stringy looking thng coming from the pimple it is an anchor worm, use tweezers to pull it directly outward from the site and unless you see more it is still probably cool. Keep an eye on it, aeromonas and pseudomonas infections are usually white or yellow at the center and generally rupture within a couple days of showing up.

well I am still not very good at taking pics lol but I'll show ya what I got. I tried to get something out with the tweezers and what is on the tissue is what was left on the tweezers. I couldn't see anything but attempted to get something out in case the tweezers would grab something. Hopefully I didn't do something bad with this one but I read somewhere else to swab the infected spot with hydrogen peroxide so I did that but only on the affected area. It looks now like it's just a little red spot on him. The other day I swear I saw a white tip to it. Could it have been a worm or something that maybe detached? I dunno I'm so confused now lol. All I feed them is dry and frozen food. How can a parasite get into my tank. The fish have been in there for a couple months now and this is the first sign of any illness. He is still acting fine I'm sure he's a little pissed at me for taking him out of the tank 3 times now but seems like he is perfectly healthy. :confused: :confused:

p.s. Thank you VERY much for the help Guppy I know I'm not giving you a whole lot to work with but I'm doing the best I can. And I really appreciate you doing the same:D

As long as it does not turn into a suppurating wound or pus filled pimple don't dose with the antibiotics, there are many transitory wounds and infection that often heal on thier own that can cause a small rise like that. 1 TBSP salt per 5 g (and if you wish, melafix) will help prevent secondary infections. Be prepared to treat for gram-neg infection but hold off a day or two to see if it heals on it's own.
It is not an argulus as those bastards are tough and will generally try to crawl off the tissue. If you haver a decent LFS take a swab sample down from the wound for staining or microscoping.

LOL well my LFS's aren't that good. I'll just wait a couple days and keep an eye on it and hope it gets better. There is already salt in the tank so as long as his rectum doesn't fall out I'll be happy:WHOA:
