I'm growing out 8 festaes in a 95 gallon that's 5'x13"x25"h. Once they reach 6-7" I want to put em in a bigger tank. I found on petsolutions.com they have a 200 gallon that's 5'x3'x27"h or a 300gallon that's 6x3x27"h. Witch would be a better tank for a 2' festae to live in.

The bigger tank would be better. Did you really have to ask or are you really asking if the smaller tank would work?

I know that and yes I am asking if it could work.

My pair had a 6'x2.5' footprint and he still killed her. I'd opt for the 6' tank, and 24" high would be plenty if that will save you any $$.

That's why I'm asking. The more room she has to run from him the better also that's why I got 8 so I have better chances of getting atleast two pairs or single males and females that I can pair them with if any kill their mate.

The way I see it is if the male wants to kill the female he will more than likely succeed withoud ise of divider. 180 imo os an ideal home for a festae pair. You just have to get the right pair that wont kill eachother.

What are the diamentions of a 180? I know the 180 is more then suitable but honestly I want them to grow to be true terrors. I've seen alot of posts of festaes on there. Some were very nice but none were no were near full grown. It does take many years of dedication to have a fish grow that large but have yet to seen a documented picture of a full grown festae.

I'd agree with that, dithers may help too, and I reckon removing the fry helps too. I'd never noticed and real aggression between the pair and they had spawned several times, and it wasn't until I left the fry with the parents that he snapped and beat the hell outa her. I think his paternal instincts kicked in and he was determined to protect the fry from any other fish, her included.
