Festaes on CL

Any thoughts on these being a decent purchase?
What would be the things to look for with fish and the parents?
What would be cues to verify it is Festae instead of Mayans ( more common look alikes arent they? )?

Not interested to them being F1, can't prove or disprove unless you know source.
Shipping from back east makes it hard to buy from Rapps and other good vendors.

looked like true Festae to me.

Look for:
Y-Bar (Festae) instead of all strait bars (mayan)
The eye on the tail is usually in the upper half as opposed to the mayans being centered and usually spanning a large amount of the tail

Keep in mind that Festae are slow growers. So if you are up for having them for a while before they are awesome looking, go for it. I'd get a few (6-10) and see if you can get a good pair out of them. Keep an established hospital/separation tank in case things get roudy in the main tank. They can be viscious.

You may try to haggle him down if you are going to get a bunch (6-10). I'd offer him something like $100 for 8 or something like that. Just see what he says.
 
Parents, Origins, or CL seller are the least of your worries. I'd make sure first that its not a Mayan.

I zoomed in with my InteliMouse but its pixelated, though looks very Festae (caudal eye is small and on top half). Also very nice colors already so may be 2-3",
1. Ask for bigger clear pics
2. You live in Vegas just go see it

Honestly I never cared for WC, F1, F2 or whatever, like someone can sell you F3 and say F1 and then you'll sell it to others as F1. However I use the tag when Im selling because unfortunately to most people this is "Sexy". Another example is a pair of Loisellei sold to someone as Freddys so he then sells all the babies as Freddys even though he knows they're Loisellei parents. One of the neverending overkilled cycle of the hobby.
 
Here, I made this real quick as a general reference for you. There are some anomalies to these two rules, but 99% of the time, you can go by these to identify them:

They are definitely Festae. I've seen them at this price and higher at that size. So get them if you want them. You may also want to check in the marketplace to see if any are available a little cheaper in your area.
 
Theyre from umbeeking. It's a great buy if you want to save yourself a trip to Cali.

there's nothing out here cheaper than that lol. The person selling them is an mfker, he picked them up from umbeeking.
 
Well I guess this is the best deal going. I know prices can vary in locations but if this is the best price, I would go for it. Umbeeking has excellent stock BTW.
