Festation Update:)

Here is an update on my festaes I currently have two breeding pairs and a trio that will prolly end up as a pair here shortly when i decide to pull one of the females.

Here is my first pair of Festae, I have two batches growing out from this pair. after pulling the last spawn the male went berserk so i divided them for a couple weeks and just pulled the divider the other day and it looks like theyre getting ready for another spawn.The male is 7.5" and female is 6.5"

Here Is my second and largest pair. This pair has spawned once for me so far. I just moved this pair into a different tank so i am expecting some settling before they start to spawn again, but it looks like the female is getting ready faster than i thoughThe male is 8-8.5" female is 7"

And here is my Trio!! Male is 6.5-7" females are 5-6". I have been tempted a few times to remove one of the females so i can focus on getting another pair spawning but the male really enjoys the company of both and there hasnt been any problems yet. i will wait till i see eggs or serious aggression before i pull a female. Their tankmates seem to feel left out and try getting some of the spot light from time to timeLOL

I'm glad that your Festae project continues to produce more and more pairs. They are all beautiful. Do most of your pairs choose to breed in the pots in their tanks or do they lay eggs in other spots as well? I've had pairs of different species that have bred in pots but I have also had pairs that would completely disregard the pots and choose some pretty open breeding sites.

Thank you very much Al. And yes pretty much all my pairs breed in some type of pot. My umbees are the only species I've kept that has used rock slabs too. You can have an influence on where they spawn most of the time just by the way a tank is set up

You may just need another male for that extra female you have there. Lol! All jokes aside. I am glad I sold you some of my precious festae stock. You are doing a great job with them. I am always proud when my fish go to a great home and are well cared for. Keep up the good work my friend!
