I am looking to purchase a few young festea (between 1 and 2 inches in length) and was wondering, how long does it takes for them to reach a size where they will be sexually mature? What size is that, 5-7 inches?

Growth rate with any cichlid is dependant on many factors.

1- the individual fish itself
2- tank size and stock list
3- water quality and filtration
4- how many water changes you do in a week and what percentage you change
5- diet. A good quality mixed diet is essential for good growth.

Hope this helps.

True, but even in the best of conditions most will grow painfully slowly. Environmental factors always way in with any fish, but Festae take a bit more patience generally speaking. Very rewarding once they get there though

i agree I was just pointing out that there's other factors. I don't personally have any experience with festae. I know all about being patient though, I'm currently growing on 2 regani cichlids.
